About the Position
Davies is looking for an experienced Workers' Compensation Adjuster to manage claims in New Mexico.
The adjuster will investigate and evaluate losses. The position will also develop action plans to resolve claims accurately and on time.
This position requires residence in New Mexico and a valid New Mexico adjuster license.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine insurance coverage for each claim.
- Evaluate claim compensability.
- Investigate Workers' Compensation claims.
- Interview employees.
- Interview employers and witnesses.
- Obtain hospital records.
- Obtain physician records.
- Obtain police reports when needed.
- Complete EDI reporting.
- Complete CMS and Section 111 reporting.
- Work with approved vendors.
- Prepare accurate claim investigation reports.
- Present reports to clients or carriers.
- Negotiate settlements with claimants.
- Negotiate with claimant attorneys.
- Manage litigation activities.
- Monitor litigation costs.
- Follow account requirements.
- Mentor and train other Davies staff when needed.
- Attend meetings and conferences.
- Attend workshops and training sessions.
- Review industry materials and updates.
- Maintain required licenses.
- Meet licensing requirements.
- Respond to client questions promptly.
- Handle catastrophic losses.
- Handle complex litigation matters.
- Manage sensitive claims issues.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of Workers' Compensation claims experience.
- Valid New Mexico adjuster license.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to complete tasks accurately and quickly.
- Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Experience conducting investigations involving multiple parties.
- Ability to use standard or specialized software.
- Ability to prepare factual reports.
- Ability to present reliable findings and recommendations.
- Strong knowledge of claims investigation practices.
- Strong knowledge of claims adjustment practices.
- Strong knowledge of related claims procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Extensive knowledge of legal terminology.
- Understanding of legal principles.
- Understanding of litigation management.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly.
- Comfort adapting to changing technology.
- Ability to understand multi-state laws and regulations.
